Heartland Assists the 2026 Sherwood Park Winter Carnival

The Sherwood Park Community League’s 4th Annual Winter Carnival is back and bigger than ever!

To be held on March 7, 2026, at the Sherwood Park Log Cabin and Community Hall, this family-friendly celebration is packed with free winter fun for all ages—and Heartland Disposal & Recycling is proud to be part of it.

A winter-themed poster reads 2026 Winter Carnival with snowflakes and trees. Text below says Presented by the Sherwood Heights Community League. Pine tree silhouettes and a snowy sky are in the background.

This year’s Winter Carnival promises to deliver a magical day of music, games, activities, and community spirit. From horse-drawn wagon rides to face painting, live music, and marshmallow roasting over firepits, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Last year, Heartland provided clean, accessible portable toilets for the event, and we are back again with the community league’s thanks.

“We want to thank Heartland Disposal & Recycling for being so willing to help us make our event more accessible and better prepared. When we called, Heartland Disposal was ready. When nature calls, we will be ready now, too.”

A Day Full of Free Fun

The event will feature:

A group of people sit on a horse-drawn wagon in a snowy landscape. A person walks beside the horse, leading it down a snow-covered road lined with bare trees at sunset.
  • Horse-drawn wagon rides
  • Children’s characters and live music by Glenna and Richard, and Mila Parker
  • Face painting, carnival games, kids’ crafts and storytelling
  • On-site Smash Club games and entertainment
  • Hot coffee, cocoa, and firepit marshmallow roasting
  • By-donation hot dog lunch to support the community

All activities are free and open to the public, both indoors and outdoors—so bundle up and come early to beat the lines!

Community Coming Together!

The Winter Carnival wouldn’t be possible without the support and collaboration of amazing community partners, including Neighbourhood Hoarding Solutions Inc., Scouts Canada (including the 193rd and 203rd Sherwood Park Scouting Groups), and Strathcona County Citizens on Patrol.

Mount Olivet Lutheran Church will once again graciously provide access to their parking lot, enabling the safe setup of many crowd-favourite activities. Their volunteers will also be on hand to make sure everyone is fed, warm, and welcome throughout the day.

And of course, we encourage everyone to bring a donation for the Strathcona Food Bank, an organization doing incredible work to support neighbours in need.

Heartland’s Commitment to Community

At Heartland, we believe strong communities are built through support, service, and showing up when needed. Events like the Winter Carnival are only possible with many hands—and we’re proud to lend ours, along with our portable toilets.
